What’s currently known about Cadillac Optiq EV?
According to Electrek, China’s MIIT revealed some of the images of the new Optiq EV in August. The report indicated that the model will feature 143 kW front and 68 kW rear electric motors.
In addition, its battery packs will apparently come from CATL and SAIC joint venture in China. It is expected to closely compete with Tesla’s Model Y with its dimensions of 4,822 mm length, 1,912 mm width, and 1,643 mm height.
Electrification target
Cadillac aims to become an all-electric brand by the end of the decade. That said, the launch of the new Optiq EV is a crucial part of its electrification strategy.
For context, Cadillac’s Lyriq EV sales only reached 5,334 units in the first nine months of the year. Nonetheless, it demonstrated a 36% sales growth compared to the same period last year, Teslarati reported.
Cadillac plans to officially start selling the 2025 Cadillac Optiq by 2024 in global markets, which may include North America, Europe, and China. It will offer Cadillac customers with another model that may match their preferences and demand. However, the brand has yet to reveal the official pricing and specs of the model next year.
