With recent models such as the Escalade-V high-performance SUV, the refreshed XT4, or the zero-emission Lyriq and Celestiq siblings, the American luxury carmaker Cadillac has maintained a tight grip above all – both ICE and EV.
That said, the brand should consider expanding its current roster further, as competitors are active. BMW recently launched a quadrant of refreshed options, the 2024 X5 and X6 mid-size crossover SUVs, including flagship high-performance X5 M and X6 M Competition models.
Mercedes is also keen on expanding its EQ range into every segment. It has even doubled down on choices like the EQE plus EQS sedan and SUV series and the upcoming EQC crossover. The latter may also get its novel EQC sedan counterpart, as seen in the second video below.
More compact and more affordable
Audi may be regarded as a lesser competitor. However, its e-tron models should be noticed, and even local brands are now eroding Caddy’s market share.
When it comes to large EV sedans, those are Tesla and Lucid. Given the Tesla Model S, 3, X, and Y offerings, the former is significantly ahead of Caddy’s new Lyriq and Celestiq duo, per the report.
That said, it is unsurprising that the rumor mill is hard at work spinning new speculations on the internet about Cadillac’s potentially incoming further EV reinforcements.
The compact model could be more affordable than its $58,590 high-rider sibling. The price positions it to better compete with Tesla’s Model Y, starting at $54,990 for the dual-motor AWD Long Range and $58,990 for the Performance version.
A significant reduction in its MSRP would be fantastic news for Caddy fans, especially given the rumors of BEV3 platform use and a possible group relationship with the forthcoming 2024 Chevy Blazer EV.
Launching new EVs
Regarding styling, the latest making-of video from the TopElectricSUV channel on YouTube appears ready to combine the Lyriq and Celestiq into a novel. Extra compact Caddy EV crossover SUV that only requires a couple of cool hues to stand out in the segment crowd.
Notably, it includes not just the universally popular Tesla Model Y, but also the Audi Q4 e-tron, and the new Lexus RZ.
Furthermore, the imagined Caddy CUV, smaller than a Lyriq and operated by single or dual electric motor options, will likely not arrive until the end of the year. General Motors must focus on a variety of other EV introductions.
Caddy may have to wait its turn as GM finally releases the following models:
- 2024 Chevrolet Equinox
- Blazer EVs (including zero-emissions SS models)
- GMC Hummer EV SUV
- Chevy Silverado
- GMC Sierra EVs and possibly more
When it arrives, Caddy may strike the right EV chord with American and Chinese customers, gaining momentum in a big market for sustainably powered vehicles.
