Chinese electric automaker BYD unveiled its 2023 e2 all-electric hatchback on April 3. The compact EV will officially debut on April 6 and will be marketed under the Ocean series lineup, per Chinese media.

Exterior
The front face of the 2023 BYD e2 has been redesigned with the following features:
- a new closed grille
- a larger BYD brand emblem without a colorful backdrop
- slim and long headlamps connected by a horizontal black trim
- three-stage air intake grille design
The e2 is 4260 mm long, 1760 mm wide, and 1530 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2610mm, which is apparently longer compared to the existing model.
Remarkably, it rides on huge multi-spoke wheels. It features a silver roof rack and a little window between the C and D pillars. At the right front fender is the quick charging port.
Interior
Unfortunately, no official interior photo has been made public. Nevertheless, the earlier spy image revealed that the high-end and entry-level models of the 2023 BYD e2 will have an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 12.8/10.1-inch rotating center control screen.
It will also be equipped with a new DiLink intelligent network connection system, per GIZMOCHINA.
Additionally, the central console and door trim include some circular accents.
Performance
As mentioned, the BYD e2 will be equipped with an 8-in-1 electric powertrain based on the e-Platform 3.0.

It boasts a 70 kW maximum power from a permanent synchronous magnet drive motor. According to the Chinese MIIT, it will also use BYD’s Blade batteries with capacities of 33.2 kWh and 43.2 kWh. They will have cruising ranges of 301 km and 401 km, respectively. At this time, there is no further precise information on the engine.
Moreover, the EV also has a radar system for rear parking and a TPMS tire pressure monitoring system.
Apart from the 2023 BYD e2, the automaker also plans to unveil its newest technology, “Yunnian,” on April 10, 2023.
