BYD sales grew 4.7% MoM to 274,386 EVs in August 2023

Chinese electric automaker BYD enjoyed a month-on-month sales growth of 4.7% to 274,386 units in August from just 262,161 in July, South China Morning Post reported.

BYD’s EV lineup

BYD currently offers multiple electric vehicle models, including the Dynasty and Ocean series. Meanwhile, the Song family sells Song Pro DM-i and Song Max DM-i of the Dynasty series. 

The lineup also includes the Song Plus EV and Song Plus DM-i under the Ocean Series, CnEVPost indicated.

The Dynasty series of the Song models reported a MoM sales growth of 11.70% to 21,000 units. Meanwhile, the Ocean series of Song models’ sales increased 13.81% MoM to 36,940 units in August.

The report indicated that BYD has just released the new Song Pro DM-i Champion Edition on May 25. More recently, it also launched the Song Plus Champion Edition on June 19.

The portfolio expansion does not stop. BYD also debuted the Song L on August 25, with plans to begin sales this year.

Apart from these, BYD also sells the following models:

Presented below are the sales of BYD EV models in August:

As you can see in the data above, the Song family remains the best-selling from the BYD brand. Its sales reached 57,940 EVs, up 36.33% YoY.

The Qin family ranked second with 45,004 sales, while the Ocean Series ranked third (36,940 units).

The top five were completed by Seagull (34,841) and Dolphin (32,745).

The Song family remained the first placer with sales of 368,211 units. The Qin family followed it with a YoY growth of 36.62% to 305,472 units.

The O completed the top five with sales of 32,745, Dolphin (227,543) and Han (144,028).

Unfortunately, the report did not provide YTD sales data for the Ocean and Dynasty models.

BYD’s lead in the electric vehicle industry is unsurprising, given its wide range of electric-powered models. It effectively provides customers with multiple options that match their preferences and requirements. 

BYD reported a profit growth of 204.68% to 10.95 billion yuan in the first half of 2023, owing to its record-breaking sales and deliveries, CNBC reported.
