Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD launched its popular electric sedan Han in the United Arab Emirates on November 22, CNBC reported.
The move is unsurprising as Chinese automakers are expanding into the Middle East amid US and European geopolitical tensions.
About BYD Han
In hindsight, BYD initially introduced the Han EV in the Chinese market in 2020. Now, the electric sedan is on track to dominate the UAE market with its recent market launch. It is also worth noting that the BYD Han also has a hybrid variant.
However, BYD has yet to announce the specific date of local deliveries.
Design
The BYD Han, one of the brand’s flagship models, sports the iconic “Dragon Face” design language developed by Design Director Wolfgang Egger. It incorporates the Eastern’s artistic dignity and magnificence. It also boasts remarkable safety, technology, performance, and comfort.
It sports 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, automatic LED headlights, LED rear combination light, and smart keyless entry.
According to Gasgoo, BYD expects the Han EV to adhere to the domestic market’s electric vehicle demand while ensuring a premium driving experience.

BYD’s presence in the UAE
BYD launched a showroom in Dubai Festival City under its partnership with Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Company. It will aid the company in various matters, including promotion, sales, and strategic development.
According to a press release in March, Al-Futtaim would oversee BYD’s business in the UAE, the pioneering Middle East country to sell BYD cars. They will cooperate in building a strong domestic sales and service system to offer a superior customer experience.
BYD also plans to release four EV offerings, including all-electrics and hybrid models, in the local market by the end of 2023. Apart from the Han, BYD has also launched the Atto 3 on its local website in June.
All these efforts are crucial for BYD to expand its global sales and delivery, which can advance its position against all other rivals. Impressively, its overall global new energy vehicle sales crossed the 5.7 million unit threshold in October 2023.
