Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has just announced today the final name of its F brand, “Fang Cheng Bao.”
The press release noted that the new brand would specialize in professional and personalized electric vehicle models, placing behind the company’s first four brands: Dynasty series, Ocean series, Denza, and Yangwang.
In late February, EV-a2z reported that the formerly mysterious F brand might target the off-road market. It turned out to be true, as the initial model will reportedly be a hardcore SUV.
About Fang Cheng Bao
Fang Cheng Bao literally means “Formula” and “Leopard” in English.
As mentioned, Fang Cheng Bao will develop EV models that adhere to the “increasingly personalized needs of consumers by offering a series of unique and professional-grade new energy vehicle models.”
According to the press release, the new brand will offer a wide range of EV products, from off-road to sports cars. However, its maiden model, “SF,” will be a hardcore SUV, which is expected to debut this year.
BYD expects the new brand to steer the transition to new energy vehicles.
“Many people think that the global e-mobility transition is a revolution in the automobile industry, where vehicles powered by fossil fuels get replaced by electric cars. However, from BYD, we believe this is only a minor part of the whole transition, and a greater realm is unfolding.”
