BYD ATTO 3 is voted “VAB Electric Family Car of the Year 2023”. The jurors, 15 professional motoring reporters and 74 family jurors that judged ten electric cars at the Zolder race circuit for three days, favored BYD ATTO 3 over nine competitors from CUPRA, Nissan, Citroen, Aiways, MG, Renault, Seres, SsangYong, and Volkswagen, as per press release by the company.
VAB is the Flemish Automobile Club, which arranges a coveted contest annually for the best family cars in various categories.
BYD ATTO 3 distinguished itself as the best VAB Family Car in the EV segment. The jurors selected BYD ATTO 3 for its design, comfort, quality and practicality. It also awarded points for the high level of standard features and warranty cover, spacious interior space, low costs per kilometer, and state-of-the-art technology features.
We have organized this contest for more than 30 years. We test cars and judge each vehicle on comfort, infotainment, safety features, accessories, budget and off course practicality, technology and drivability. This year the cars were judged by the professional car media (30% of the total figure), customers and families (50%) and also costs per kilometer for each vehicle. This important last element contributes for 20% of the total figure.

Excellent Jurors report
The jurors’ report was precise, concluding that BYD ATTO 3 outshines European competitors.
“A premium car for a sharp price” was another criterion. At the same time, “A fresh design and solid finish” was mentioned by the professional media jurors. The family jurors praised the “Fresh design,” the “youthful appearance of the vehicle,” “Futuristic cockpit,” “Spacious interior,” “Great Seats,” and “Large boot storage.” In addition, “Great handling” and “High Efficiency” was also mentioned.
BYD ATTO 3, awarded the maximum of 5 stars by safety organization Euro NCAP, ended as the number one electric vehicle in the segment. A good result for a brand-new vehicle that was just launched in Europe at the 2022 Paris Motor Show in October.
The BYD ATTO 3 is a spacious front-wheel drive C-Segment SUV that integrates modern aesthetics with exceptional intelligence and efficiency derived from pioneering EV technology and smart connectivity.
The EV model measures 4,455 mm in length and 2,050 mm wide (with wing mirrors unfolded) and enjoys a 2,720 mm wheelbase, and is optimized for comfort and space. Moreover, BYD ATTO 3 provides seating for five occupants and plenty of storage in the 440-liter boot, which could be expanded to 1138 liters when the rear seats are folded flat.
The vehicle also provides an efficient 60.48 kWh BYD Blade Battery with 420 km (260 miles) range (WLTP combined).

Additionally, BYD ATTO 3 benefits from the ground-breaking in-house developed BYD Blade Battery, which revolutionizes durability, performance, and safety in the electric vehicle industry.
The cobalt-free Blade Battery utilizes Lithium Iron-Phosphate (LFP), which provides a higher safety level than typical lithium-ion batteries.
Moreover, the Blade Battery offers more stability, safety and durability, bringing the benefit of ultra-low energy consumption with high power density.

Currently, the BYD ATTO 3 is launched in Belgium, Denmark, France, Norway, the Netherlands, and Sweden. Meanwhile, BYD Stores in the UK, Italy, Finland, Spain, Austria, Germany, and Luxembourg will be opened next year.
The vehicle has been on sale in Belgium since September 2022, with BYD-partner Inchcape in Zaventem. Stores in Gent and Antwerp will be opened soon.
