German automaker BMW Group saw a year-on-year sale increase of 10.6% to 651,798 global vehicles in Q4 2022. However, its full-year 2022 sales result recorded a YoY decrease of 4.8% to 2.4 million units, as reported by InsideEVs.

BMW Group plug-in electric car sales in Q4 2022
BMW Group recorded a new quarterly high in the sales of plug-in electric vehicles in Q4 2022. The overall volume saw a YoY increase of 56% to over 150,000 units.
Furthermore, almost one in four new cars (23%) was rechargeable. For the second consecutive quarter, the vast majority of plug-ins were BEVs.
These data show that the volume and momentum are currently in favor of BEVs.

BMW Group plug-in electric car sales in full-year 2022
BMW Group reported a YoY sales growth of 32% to 433,795 plug-in electric cars in 2022. BEVs accounted for 215,755 units, representing a 108% growth from 2021.
Remarkably, the full-year result for BEVs also doubled, like in Q4. Meanwhile, PHEVs dropped to below the 2021 records.

The BMW Group stated its subsequent goal is to reach a BEV share of 15% in 2023. We are likely talking about more than 350,000 BEVs if we add 9% and 215,755 units in 2022. This target indicates a potential increase of at least two-thirds year-over-year.

Remarkably, worldwide deliveries of all-electric vehicles by BMW Group total over 500,000.
Plug-in car sales by brand
BMW brand reported sales of 172,011 all-electric cars in 2022, while Mini had 43,744 units.
Notably, the Mini Cooper SE was the most popular model of the Mini brand, with a 21% market share globally.

It is worth noting that BMW has announced plans to debut a new model this 2023. Among these models are the BMW i5 and the all-electric Spectre from Rolls-Royce. Furthermore, the BEV Mini Countryman is one of the two electric cars that Mini will debut for the new Mini family.
