German legacy automaker BMW reported record-breaking battery electric vehicle sales in the US market in the fourth quarter of the year.
Overall, BMW Group’s BMW and Mini brands sold 118,609 vehicles in the country in the same period. It indicates a notable 6% year-on-year sales growth. Year to date, total vehicle sales increased 9% YoY to 395,741 units. Refer to the table below:

BEV sales in Q4 2023
As mentioned, BMW’s all-electric sales successfully hit a new record in the US market in the fourth quarter of 2023.
According to the press release, BMW’s BEV sales grew 65% YoY to 14,374 units. This figure enabled all-electric vehicles to control 13.3% of the overall volume.

Unfortunately, BMW has not released the sales figures for the Mini brand.
BEV sales in FY 2023
In the full year, BMW’s BEV sales increased by a whopping 191% YoY to 45,417 units. It accounted for 12.5% of the automaker’s total sales volume. Refer to the table below:

In hindsight, BMW brand’s BEV sales surpassed 15,000 units in 2022 and accounted for 4.7% of the volume.
Strong plug-in electric car sales performance
Apart from BMW’s remarkable all-electric vehicle sales, the brand also reported a strong performance in the plug-in hybrid market.
Its PHEV sales grew by an astounding 237% YoY to 70,700 units. It accounted for a notable 19.5% share of the brand’s sales volume.
In that sense, one in every five BMW car sales were rechargeable in 2023.
