Once again, Tata Motors will grace the halls of this year’s Auto Expo in India with their electric vehicles, as reported by AutoCar India.
Tata Punch EV will mark its public appearance at the event by previewing the brand’s concepts – Tata Curvv and Avinya.
Tata Motors’ entry to the Auto Expo
The Punch EV will be showcased to the public at the Auto Expo 2023 as one of Tata Motors’ highlighted EVs in the event. It is in a state where it is close to production before going on sale later this year.
Tata Motors would not go unnoticed because the Punch CNG, which also has a planned market launch, will be present at the expo. The freshly released Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Nexon EV lineup will all also be there.
Both concept vehicles, Tata Curvv and Avinya will exhibit Tata Motors’ Gen 2 and Gen 3 electric vehicle architecture.
Tata Curvv
Parading a future midsize coupe SUV with an EV and ICE powertrain options, Tata Curvv is yet to serve. By 2024, it will be on sale.
It is worth noting that the Curvv concept was unveiled by Tata Motors last April of 2022.
Exterior
Regarding the Curvv concept’s exteriors, the report describes the vehicle as the so-called “New Digital Design Language” by Tata. The Curvv concept has a sharp styling with striking, minimalist, yet futuristic cues. In addition to a powerful shoulder line, squared-off wheel arches, and body cladding, the SUV’s sloping roofline seamlessly blends into the notchback-styled boot of the Curvv.
The “New Digital Design Language” by Tata is expected to be incorporated into the future SUV lineup of Tata Motors.
Interior
Its interior gets a three-layer dashboard, multiple screens, and some angular design elements.
Platforms
Tata Motors will use the new Generation 2 EV architecture on the Curvv concept’s production spec. This Gen 2 EV architecture has been created to support and cater to different body styles and powertrain options.
The Gen 1 architecture, now used in Tata electric vehicles, has undergone major modification to produce the Gen 2 architecture we currently have. The Gen 2 architecture allows the car to accommodate bigger batteries, broader powertrain configurations, and AWD dual motor set-up.
Avinya Concept
While Curvv gives significant offers to the EV market, Avinya previews Tata’s first-born electric platform.
Like the Curvv concept, the Avinya concept was unveiled last April 2022. According to the report, the Avinya concept is unique because it is Tata Motors’ “third step” in its electrification strategy.
Instead of the Gen 2 platform, which serves as the foundation of the Curvv concept, Avinya utilizes Tata’s more advanced Gen 3 architecture.
Interior
Avinya has minimal front and back overhangs, which only emphasizes the vehicle’s large wheelbase. Along with a distinctively lighted solid grille piece, a thin headlight, and a cleverly designed front splitter, the front of the car has a full-width LED light strip that is intended to imitate a stretched-out “T” logo. Along with a glass roof, it also receives other aesthetic influences from concept cars, such as suicide doors and an unusual floating taillight appearance.
The dashboard does not have a central infotainment screen. There are two screens on the steering wheel and a slim, well-integrated screen in the dashboard above the soundbar. Additionally, it uses environmentally friendly materials and equips the cabin with a distinctive aroma diffuser.
Speculations suggest that Tata Motors will also display updated iterations of the Harrier and Safari EVs along with the abovementioned models. However, Tata Motors has not confirmed this.
The automaker may give a sneak peek at the ADAS and upgraded connected car technologies the company plans to offer in its SUVs.
