The event’s star attraction was Maruti Suzuki’s newest concept EV, which the manufacturer hopes to sell in the Indian auto market by 2025 and is said to be able to drive 550 kilometers on a single charge.
Tata Motors, Hyundai Motor Company, and many other automakers at the Auto Expo 2023 also exhibited their electric vehicles.
The Indian government plans
With the slow rising in the use of electric vehicles in India, the country plans to:
- By 2030, the country’s federal government hopes to reduce car emissions
- Encourage 30% of drivers to switch to electric vehicles
Why the serious promotion of EVs? Because of India’s vehicular pollution.
India’s central government plans to reduce vehicular pollution due to India’s recent struggles with severe air pollution. HT Auto added that according to the NHK World report, India has a total car population of 1.4 billion and is anticipated to grow even more.
