German automaker Audi finally unveiled the long-delayed Q6 E-Tron on Monday as it seeks to revive the brand’s prevalence in the rapidly growing automotive industry.
According to the press release, the new Audi Q6 e-tron “marks the start of a new generation of electrically powered vehicles at Audi.” It will feature new architecture, battery technology, and innovative design to usher the brand’s shift to electric vehicles.
Exterior design
Audi’s new Q6 E-Tron is a luxury midsize electric SUV with almost the exact dimensions as its sibling Q5. It is apparently one-third of a foot longer at 15.6 feet, 4 inches wider at 6.5 feet, and half an inch shorter at 5.4 feet. In addition, its wheelbase is a quarter-foot longer at 9.5 feet. It will come with 18″ to 21″ wheel options, depending on the trim and package.
Its new design enabled iconic Audi angles and forms to become sleeker lines. Its rear has a wide light line to emphasize its width. Those OLED lights feature 360 segments, which create a new image every ten milliseconds through a bespoke algorithm. It has short overhangs and muscular fenders, which the company named “Quattro blisters” on the e-tron GT.
Up front, it features an inverted Singleframe grille, a black frame with a sealed white inner section. It also has new Matrix LED digital light clusters, with 12 segments that support up to eight patterns. However, due to stringent government regulations, US-spec models will not have moving light and connectivity technology.
Interior features
Inside, the Audi Q6 E-Tron features some cool cloth and mesh materials. It also has a large back seat that can accommodate people much taller than 6 feet.
In addition, it features a center console that supports 50% fold in the middle. It also has two USB C plugs below the rear climate controls.
More impressively, it has a new curve display with two screens, including an instrument cluster and a touch screen at the center of the dashboard. There is also an optional passenger display. Notably, new software built on the Android Automotive OS powers all these screens inside the Audi Q6 E-Tron.
Power and performance
The new Q6 E-Tron rides on a new platform developed by its sister company Porsche. The PPE platform will enable future Audi EVs to compete with other luxury brands’ offerings, especially their performance models.
There will initially be two Q6 E-Tron versions. In the US, the 2025 Q6 e-tron Quattro will feature two electric motors for AWD configuration. It can yield a maximum output of (422 horsepower) or up to 340 kW (456 horsepower) in boost mode. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph for only about 5.0 seconds. It also claims to have a top speed of 130 mph.
Meanwhile, the SQ6 e-tron can reportedly produce 360 kW (483 horsepower) or up to 380 kW (510 horsepower) in boost mode. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of up to 142 mph.
Both versions will come with a 100 kWh battery with a usable capacity of 94.9 kWh. The Q6 e-tron is expected to deliver a WLTP-rated range of up to 625 km (388 miles) between charges, and the SQ6 e-tron can deliver 598 km (372 miles).
