Ark Motors, the United Kingdom’s first all-electric car company, has recently unveiled its maiden offering Ark Zero.

Billed as "the UK's most affordable electric car", the Ark Zero has launched with a £5995 price tag and will rival the Citroen Ami https://t.co/Ag9L68qfxK pic.twitter.com/YQDq69zKOW

What’s remarkable about this new electric quadricycle is its £5,995 price tag, which undercuts the famous Citroen Ami by around £1,700, or an astounding 22%. In addition, the Ark Zero’s price is also less than the entry-level Apple Mac Pro’s price. As a result, it is currently recognized as the UK’s cheapest EV.

About the Ark Zero

For £5,995 ($7,650), customers can obtain an electric two-seater quadricycle that weighs 489 kg. It has an estimated driving range of 50.3 miles between charges and 28 miles per hour top speed. Additionally, it has a 2.2 kW (3 bhp) power, which is good enough for its class.

As for the charging, Ark Motors claim that Zero’s battery can fully charge in six to eight hours for “less than £1.” However, it must be noted that the car’s charging speed and price would vary depending on the charger and the electricity costs. Notably, it supports a standard Type 1 charger for up to 7.4kW and Type 2 chargers via an adapter.

Inside, the Ark Zero appears more luxurious than the Citroen Ami, offering features like an infotainment display, Bluetooth, reversing camera, USB charge ports, and a sound system with radio. According to the automaker, Zero’s interior is specially developed for two passengers and a dog. True enough, it sports a center-seat driving spot, while the wider second row is dedicated to the passengers and their dog (or maybe any pet of that size.)

Appearance-wise, the Zero is shorter but slightly taller than the Citroen Ami, featuring the following measurements: 2,500mm long, 1,202mm wide, and 1,625 mm tall. Customers can choose from four body paints: red, black, white, and grey.

As mentioned, Ark Zero is a quadricycle vehicle. Therefore, it does not require actual cars’ strict crash safety systems. Nonetheless, Ark assures prospective customers that the Zero has a monocoque chassis and an aluminum body, which enhances the impact absorption in case of a crash.

“The robust aluminium body of our electric cars forms a solid protective shell around you, offering enhanced resistance in case of impact.”
