John Deere, the leading American agricultural and industrial auto manufacturing corporation, has emerged as a “green” advocate by integrating electric technology into its products.
As part of the company’s green push, it now plans to launch all-electric tractors by 2026. According to Electrek, it aims to produce these new models in North Carolina, US.
Production capacity expansion
In hindsight, John Deere announced in late September 2022 its take over of Kreisel Electric, a battery tech and DC fast charging solution developer.
“This investment will put a strong focus on the industrialization and automation of the entire production process, as well as research and development capacities at Kreisel HQ in Rainbach.”

It then disclosed its expansion plans for North American production capacities late last year. After several months, the company chose Kernersville, North Carolina, as its new manufacturing hub. According to the company, the proposed 115,000 sq. ft. production facility in the state will have up to 2 GWh production capacity after completion.
“Our customers are facing challenges that require their businesses to be more dynamic than ever before — we are engineering the technological innovations they’ll rely on to do so. Together with Kreisel, John Deere is expanding its electrification portfolio to include more scalable solutions to meet a wider range of our customers’ application needs. This investment is a great step forward as we work toward our goal of demonstrating viable low- and near-zero-carbon power solutions by 2026.”

Timeline
As mentioned, John Deere expects to officially bring its planned new all-electric and hybrid heavy construction and agricultural equipment models by 2026.
The North Carolina factory will produce the batteries to support the production of these models, paving the way for more sustainable agriculture-related operations.
The new factory and the job opportunities it could generate will undoubtedly have a huge impact on locals to start adopting electric technology in the agriculture industry.
