American convenience store chain 7-Eleven successfully launched its electric vehicle charging network and mobile app 7Charge on March 16, 2023.
The 7Charge is the company’s new, proprietary EV charging network that enables “convenient and reliable fast-charging” at particular 7‑Eleven® stores in the United States, per the press release. It is also set to reach the Canadian market soon.
Purpose
7‑Eleven aims to catch up in the rapidly growing EV charging industry and advance to be among the leading provider in North America.
As per the announcement, the charging network is already operational in several states, including Florida, Texas, Colorado, and California.
“Once the network’s expansion is complete, 7‑Eleven will have one of the largest and most compatible fast-charging networks of any retailer in North America.
7-Eleven will have the ability to grow its network to match consumer demand and make EV charging available to neighborhoods that have, until now, lacked access.”

About the 7Charge
The 7Charge network offers the necessary mobile app to aid drivers in locating the nearest station and pay the service conveniently. EV drivers can download the app from Google Play, App Store, or by accessing 7‑Eleven.com/7charge.
As for the pricing, the company states that it would depend on energy consumption or charging duration, depending on the particular state’s regulations.
Furthermore, the 7Charge is accessible to all EVs regardless of their brand and model as long as they use a CHAdeMO or Combined Charging System (CCS) plug type and an adapter.
As per the company, the technology is equipped with high-voltage DC plugs, enabling most EVs to charge to 80% in just about half an hour.
All that said, the 7Charge network will indeed contribute to addressing the common problems currently faced by EV drivers on charging infrastructures.
“For over 95 years, 7‑Eleven has innovated to meet our customers’ needs – delivering convenience where, when, and how they want it.
Now, we are innovating once again to meet our customers’ where they are by expanding our business to provide EV drivers convenience of the future…today.”
