German automaker Audi is set to launch the new Q6 E-Tron in the global electric vehicle market in 2024, Motor1.com reported. For the first time, car enthusiasts spied the new electric crossover on a road test with little to no camouflage.
Exterior design
Audi’s Q6 E-Tron will offer regular and coupe-like Sportback body designs, which are apparently production-ready prototypes.
Interestingly, the model will be a twin of the under-development e-Porsche Macan as part of the brands’ partnership.
Based on the spy shots, the Q6 E-Tron appears very similar to the new Q4 E-Tron but on a larger scale. However, it has a split headlight layout, which is different from the brand’s other models.
Its daytime running lights and indicators are positioned above the main projector. Enticingly, potential owners can modify the daytime running lights’ signatures and the taillights’ elements.
Interior features
Inside, Audi already teased some details of the Q6 E-Tron’s interior last September. Its dashboard has a curved panel angled toward the driver’s seat. It also features an 11.9″ digital gauge cluster and a 14.5″ infotainment touchscreen, according to Auto Express.
Motor Authority suggests that the Q6 E-Tron will only have five seaters, citing its body type and size.
Technical details
The Audi Q6 E-Tron will ride on the PPE platform co-developed with Porsche. However, Audi has yet to reveal the details of the model’s powertrain.
Nonetheless, the PPE platform will support an 800v electrical system that can enable a driving range of about 300 miles or more.
Audi will bring the Q6 E-Tron’s production to its existing Ingolstadt factory in Germany.
Audi initially planned to launch the Q6 E-Tron in 2022. However, numerous delays hampered the brand’s ability to sell the model. It will hit the market in early 2024, probably as a 2025 model in the US market.
The new Audi Q6 E-Tron is a crucial part of the brand’s efforts to reach its goal of launching 20 new or revamped models by the end of 2025, with over half of the lineup being electric.
