The updated MG ZS EV (with no-cost white paint as tested) brings a number of worthwhile improvements over the old version – for an unchanged $44,990 drive-away starting price.

Price rise broadens the gap with MG ZS EV

Pricing for two models increased by the same amount, $3600, widening the gap between Atto 3 and the lowest-priced electric car in Australia, the MG ZS EV, which costs $44,990 drive-away.

Though its price figure was a few hundred dollars higher than the BYD Atto 3, the lack of on-road costs made it the cheapest electric vehicle in Australia.

BYD Atto 3 delivery and waiting time

In addition, the company’s website now offers some clarity about estimated wait times, a step others have not yet taken, by offering possible consumers an estimated delivery time for new orders.

For instance, an Atto 3 ordered today would arrive approximately five months later, in April or May next year.

Consumers who have already placed orders of Atto 3 are not impacted by the pricing change. Additionally, there are no indicated changes to specifications.

This follows just weeks after the BYD model went through minor changes to acquire a five-star ANCAP safety rating, like exposing the top-tether child restraint anchorage point in the rear seat and disabling the front passenger child seat mounting points, which is prohibited in Australia.

NEWS: EVs hit 4.7% of Australia new car sales in November.

Out of the 4,457 EVs sold, the three biggest sellers were:

• Tesla Model Y – 1,805
• BYD Atto 3 – 845
• Tesla Model 3 – 391

Tesla has now delivered ~50% more EVs to Australia in 2022 vs 2021. https://t.co/aINmkdNvyB

Sales of BYD Atto 3 since its launch

Recently, BYD has also started to offer its sales figures to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), which means that the company has sold over 845 Atto 3s since its launch, with that figure being accurate as of last month.
