Leading American automaker Tesla had an outstanding year in 2022. But as we move to 2023, let’s look back at Tesla’s development through the years.

Tesla Tweeted, thanking their community for making 2022 a good year for the company.

2022 was a huge year for EVs.

Thank you to Tesla owners, supporters & employees for helping us accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy! ⚡️🚘🔋☀️❤️

Tesla’s milestones in 2022

Tesla started the year by serving its customers almost 1 million vehicles in 2021, which totaled 936,172 electric vehicles.

Teslarati provided a comprehensive list of Tesla’s significant success in 2022.

March

Last March, CEO Elon Musk had his joy all over as the first made-in-Germany EV was handed over and produced in Giga Berlin, which opened last fall of 2021. He gave his speech at the event about Giga Berlin being the heart of Europe and the world:

“I’m incredibly excited to hand over the first production cars from our incredible team here at Giga Berlin Brandenburg. This is a great day for the factory, and I just like to thank everyone who helped. Thank you, thank you very much. It really made a big difference.”

“And to the community, Tesla will make sure that this is a gem — a gemstone for the area, for Germany, for Europe, and for the world.”

“Every vehicle that we make will be another step in the direction of a sustainable energy future. We will also make battery storage. So this is going to be very important for storing renewable energy — so, for solar and wind. Because it’s intermittent, it needs to be stored, but we’re extremely confident that the world will transition to a sustainable energy future with the combination of solar, plus battery storage, and electric vehicles.”

“If you have those three legs of the stool, then you can create a sustainable energy future for as long as the sun shines and the wind blows.”

“I want to be clear that sometimes people are sad about the future or they think, well, ‘will we solve sustainable energy?’ and ‘maybe the climate issue is too late’ or something like that. I really want to assure everyone that you can have hope in the future.”

“You should have hope in the future. This problem will be solved. And this factory is a major step in that direction. And so, believe in the future.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk

April

In April, Tesla had their grand opening of the Cyber Rodeo event in Giga Texas. It invited people to tour the factory and observe the production of made-in-Texas Model Y cars.

Kyle Wozniak, a Tesla employee, attended the event and showed the Tesla Semi, Cybertruck, and the next-gen Roadster.

June

Arushi Sharma Frank, Tesla’s US Energy Markets Policy Lead, provided the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) with public comments in June. It opened the door for Tesla owners to participate in virtual power plants (VPPs) in late 2022. Due to the diligent efforts of Frank and her team, Tesla formally launched its Tesla Electric on December 15.

September

During Tesla’s second AI Day in September, the automaker unveiled a working prototype of their Optimus Bot and shared a video of it at work.

“Our goal is to make a useful humanoid robot as soon as possible.”

Elon Musk

October

Tesla officially opened its Lathrop Megafactory in California in October 2022. It started construction in August and gave a sneak peek in October as it began to hire more people.

December

Tesla delivered PepsiCo and FritoLay its first Semi in December. One of the trucks in the Modesto Christmas Parade was showcased by Fritolay.

Pepsi declared that it would use 100 of the Tesla Semis it had acquired in 2023. Notably, the trucks will transport goods to retailers like Walmart and Kroger.

More in 2023…

These are just a few highlights to show Tesla’s breakthroughs throughout the years. These are not all of Tesla’s accomplishments for 2022. Besides that, we have seen that Tesla continues to develop its technology. By 2023, there will be a lot more to see in this.
