BYD-owned brand Denza has received more than 20,000 preorders for its maiden electric SUV N7 ahead of its official launch in late June, CnEVPost reports.

That number of preorders is certainly remarkable, given that the premium new energy vehicle maker has yet to disclose the Denza N7’s official specs and pricing.

It is worth noting that the announcement came from Denza’s Sales Division General Manager, Zhao Changjiang, during a company event on Tuesday.

How the Chinese customers welcome the new Denza N7?

Denza initially accepted reservations for the N7 model on the first day of the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show on April 18. However, it has not yet announced the SUV’s pricing and specs.

Notably, Sales Division General Manager Zhao stated on March 26 that many buyers want the automaker to immediately launch the Denza N7, CnEVPost indicated.

A car blogger commented:
"According to the information of Denza sales chief Zhao Changjiang on March 26, the sales of D9 and the popularity of N7 far exceeded the expectations of most people. It even made me feel a sense of 'unreal'. " https://t.co/c2MUqISEbY pic.twitter.com/VYWtvnnLY5

Apart from that, the automaker expects the model to secure 30,000 orders before its mid-year debut, per inquiry volume data.

Of the 20,000+ accumulated preorders for the Denza N7, 55% were luxury brand owners (Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi). Meanwhile, 35% are old BYD and Denza customers, the general manager of the sales division stated, CnEVPost noted.

About Denza

Denza is a joint venture founded by BYD and Daimler in February 2011. The partners controlled an equal stake of 50% at that time. However, Daimler was rebranded as Mercedes-Benz in February 2022.

Thereafter, BYD’s stake rose to 90% while Mercedes’ dropped to 10%.

Denza launched its first-ever model since reorganization in August 2022, the D9 MPV. Now, the Denza N7 will follow it, which is also the company’s first SUV offering.

As mentioned, Denza has not yet revealed the N7 pricing. However, CnEVPost mentioned Zhao’s Weibo announcement on Dember 20 last year that the model will target conventional ICE cars priced at about 400,000 yuan ($55,850).

Let us all just wait for the Denza N7’s official launch in late June, along with its pricing and specifications.
