VinFast lowered the leasing price for the VF 8 models by over 50% for its initial Californian customers, with delivery beginning on March 1. At the same time, the Vietnamese automaker has also announced that it will start delivering the VF 8 City Edition to US customers.
“This is our special offer to VinFast customers for the VF 8 City Edition models in order to stay competitive with other brands,” VinFast said in a statement.
We will officially deliver the VF 8 City Edition vehicles to customers on March 1.”

As of February 27, VinFast’s online configurator displays the vehicle’s monthly leasing cost for a 24-month lease is $399. It must be noted that the VinGroup JSC EV brand initially stated that its first model delivered to the US would have a leasing price of $599/month for a 24-month lease.
VinFast offers a 33%-54% lease price reduction after Tesla’s price cuts
Now, customers who had previously made a refundable deposit for the EV received emails from the Vietnamese automaker informing them that the monthly payment in California would be $274. In comparison to the originally announced monthly lease price, that reduction translates to savings of between 33% and 54%.
The lease price cuts are the most recent evidence of rising pricing competition among electric automakers. In hindsight, Tesla significantly dropped prices by up to 20% globally in January. Even if it has already marginally increased pricing on some models and in some countries since then, its impacts are still apparent.
Unfortunately, VinFast has not qualified for the federal tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act as of February 27. Nonetheless, the automaker claims that US Bancorp would offer lease financing for its US sales.
About the VF 8 City Edition
The VF 8 City Edition offers two trims: Eco and Plus. The Eco offers a 207 miles EPA range, while the Plus has 191 miles EPA range.
