Weekly production rate of 1,000

In retrospect, the Gigafactory Texas only had a 1,000 electric vehicle production rate weekly in June. Thereafter, there has been no news from the automaker if it has improved the production rate at Giga Texas.

That said, many people speculated that Giga Texas might be trailing behind Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. Now, Tesla proved them wrong with the announcement of another milestone in Giga Texas.

Tesla’s targets

Tesla initially expected to produce 5,000 units weekly by the end of 2022, but it already seems not feasible as we only have about one month before the next year starts. Nonetheless, the automaker would likely achieve its target of 75,000 Model Ys in Q1 2023 at this rate.

Furthermore, Tesla aims to gradually manufacture 500,000 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in the Giga Texas.

In 2023, the production of the Tesla Semi and Cybertruck will both take place at the site.

How does the federal tax credit affect Tesla’s moves?

It is worth noting that Tesla is ramping up its production as it prepares for the expected surge in demand once its EVs reobtain federal tax credit eligibility in 2023.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s sales in the US are suffering as many customers opt to delay until the new year due to the impending tax credit.

Even though the federal tax credit under the recently passed IRA hurt Tesla’s sales this year, the automaker would undoubtedly have a great year in 2023.
