Key considerations

A tractor pull test is a highly challenging activity that involves vehicles pulling an extremely heavy self-propelled sled of approximately 35,000 pounds as far as they can, EVsoup noted. What’s more difficult about this test is that the sled pulls itself backward.

Tesla lead Cybertruck engineer Wes emphasized that all the vehicles involved in the tractor pull test came straight from their respective factories, ensuring that all of them featured stock equipment.

Moreover, Teslarati reported that Tesla ensured that all the electric truck participants were fully charged before pulling the trailer.

Tesla vehicle test engineer Ross further asserted that the sled in the tractor pull test will always win. Therefore, the test is primarily to determine the durability and range of each vehicle. Without further ado, here are the tractor pull test results.

Tractor pull test results

The Ford F-150 Lightning managed to pull the self-propelled sled by 207 feet before stopping. The Rivian R1T traveled 257 feet, while the internal combustion engine-powered Ford F-350 reached 263 feet.

In a grand display of strength and endurance, the Cybertruck successfully pulled the sled by a whole 318 feet before it stopped. In fact, Tesla’s all-electric pickup managed to reach the end of the track before it stopped.

Cybertruck’s winning qualities

Tesla Cybertruck has the highest horsepower generation compared to F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and F-350. It also sports the most aggressive 12.5-inch-wide Goodyear all-terrain style tire, MotorTrend emphasized.

In addition, the Cybertruck also has an electromechanical locking front differential and virtual locking rear that substantially improves its traction.

Presented below are the differences among the four pickup trucks in Tesla’s tractor pull test:

Despite the challenge posed by pulling a self-propelled sled, Tesla’s Cybertruck still managed to show off its dominance. It outperformed its closest electric pickup rivals and even the traditional F-350 truck. Cybertruck’s significant lead emphasizes its remarkable exceptional towing capacity and its strong potential to disrupt the pickup truck market.
