Agreement

Tata Motors‘ electric vehicle unit officially inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chargezone, Glida, Statiq, and Zeon on Monday, December 11.

This newly formed partnership aims to expand India’s electric vehicle charging network with the planned deployment of more than 10,000 charging stations within the following 12-15 months.

The project will build on the current network of the four CPOs and TPEM’s insights from more than 1.15 lakh Tata EVs in the country, TOI noted.

An arm of @TataMotors, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, has joined hands with various charge point operators (CPOs), Chargezone, Glida, Statiq and Zeon, for the rollout of more than 10,000 additional electric vehicles charging points.

TPEM’s role

TPEM committed to actively aiding its four CPO partners in deploying the first batch of EV chargers at strategic locations mostly visited by its car owners.

TPEM will also provide usage data to continuously enhance customers’ charging experience.

In addition, TPEM will also assist its partners in exploring the possibility of a smart payment platform development through co-branded RFID cards to facilitate a more convenient transaction for Tata EV owners.

The MoU also seeks to offer customers incentives from the CPOs’ loyalty programs and access to a separate customer care number.

Significance

India continues to witness notable growth in its electric vehicle industry. That said, this partnership will significantly aid the government’s efforts to promote the shift with the development of dependable charging stations in the country.

“With the industry witnessing a high-growth phase of electric mobility, we have been working with automotive OEMs for strategic partnerships and a collaborative approach towards building reliable high speed charging infrastructure.”

Charge Zone Founder/CEO Kartikey Hariyani

The partnership among India’s major EV industry players will also facilitate easier access to charging stations by building on the most strategic locations across the country.

“The partnership opens up opportunities for further enhancing charging infrastructure at favourable customer touch points, increasing reach on highway and city centres, convenient discovery & status of charging infrastructure on EV dashboard, thus putting ‘customer experience’ at the core of this partnership.”

Glida Executive Director Awadhesh Kumar Jha

In addition, the partnership will substantially support the companies’ efforts to lead the country towards the shift to more sustainable mobility.

“This partnership represents more than just a business tie-up; it’s a testament to our shared vision for the future of mobility. Together, we aim to redefine the EV landscape, introducing cutting-edge technologies and pioneering solutions that will shape the industry for years to come.”

Statiq CTO/Co-founder aghav Arora,

Indeed, this partnership will make establishing a strong and reliable charging network possible. It will offer Tata EV owners the necessary support, potentially influencing other citizens to join the shift.

“Today we are very excited to announce our partnership with TPEM… Our collaboration would help us build a charging ecosystem that is convenient, comprehensive, and relevant EV owners.”

Zeon Charging MD/CEO Karthikeyan KP

Building an accessible and convenient charging network is undoubtedly a crucial factor in boosting electric vehicle adoption in India. In effect, the country can solve the alarming urban pollution partly induced by the transportation sector. In addition, such partnerships demonstrate the country’s commitment to compete in the global electric vehicle space.
