R1T and R1S Dual-Motor AWD system: standard and enhanced

The automaker claims that by 2023, the Dual-Motor AWD systems for the R1T and R1S will be out in the market.

Furthermore, a recent tweet from Rivian also mentioned that there would be two types of Dual-Motor AWD vehicles: the standard and enhanced.

Progress report: When our Dual-Motor AWD system is introduced for R1T and R1S next year, you’ll be able to choose a standard version capable of 600 hp and 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds, or an enhanced version that increases horsepower to approx. 700 hp and 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. pic.twitter.com/Lz4FE06tIe

Horsepower and Acceleration

The 600 HP Dual-Motor AWD R1T and R1S standard models can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

Meanwhile, the enhanced models have 700 HP and a 3.5 second 0-60 mph time. As implied by their names, the enhanced Dual-Motor AWD R1T and R1S offer more significant capabilities.

RJ shared via Instagram the Rivian R1T and R1S Dual Motor system, the cheaper drivetrain for the R1.

Towing capacity

In a recent letter to those who had made reservations for the Quad-Motor + Max Pack, Rivian also hinted at the upcoming release of the standard and enhanced Dual-Motor AWD models.

The EV company stressed in the letter that the standard and enhanced Dual-Motor AWD R1T models could tow 11,000 lbs.

Discounts

Furthermore, Rivian announced in the letter that discounts are offered to people with Dual-Motor AWD reservations who purchased their R1T before March 1, 2022.

Rivian promised to take $4,500 off of regular Dual-Motor AWD bookings. It will also cut costs by $2,000 for clients who purchase the enhanced Dual-Motor AWD version.

Battery packs

The three battery packs Rivian offers are Standard, Large, and Max. Reservation holders can couple Dual-Motor AWD vehicles with any of the three battery packs. However, only starting in 2023 will the Large Pack be compatible with quad-motor AWD units.

Announced changes

Over the past few weeks, Rivian has made numerous statements on its lineup, particularly regarding the changes users can anticipate in the next year.

For example, Rivian will only offer the Max battery packs for R1T orders with Dual-Motor AWD configurations by next year.

Reservation owners who ordered R1Ts with the Quad-Motor + Max Pack configuration were urged to upgrade to the Large Battery Pack. This process would significantly hasten the delivery of their vehicles to early 2023.

Recently, the R1T Quad-Motor with Large Battery Pack was acknowledged for having the highest range on the EV market. The R1T Quad-Motor achieves a 328-mile EPA range with a Large Pack.

As for the prices, another $8,000 in the US and $11,000 in Canada are required to purchase the Quad-Motor driving system.

Meanwhile, the Large Pack is an additional $6,000 in the United States and $8,250 in Canada.

Overall, the R1T and R1S Dual-Motor AWD’s standard and enhanced models are electric vehicles one should look out for. With good specifications and great offers, Rivian is, yet again, set to serve good-quality EV offerings.
