Rivian sent letters to owners

Rivian reportedly emailed its owners in North America to ask for their shipping address, as per a thread on rivianforums.com.

NEWS: @Rivian owners are beginning to get emails notifying them that their NACS to CCS official adapter is ready to ship. Keep an eye out in your inbox! pic.twitter.com/82xRiU4G7s

The original poster contains a low VIN number, as do some other forum users who got the email. It is highly probable that they are at the top of the list, with higher VINs following.

Presented below is Rivian’s email to owners:

“Hi there,

Good news! Your complimentary NACS DC adapter is ready to be shipped. Please follow the link below to let us know your preferred delivery address within 60 days of receiving this email.

Please Note: Unfortunately, we cannot support shipping to PO Boxes or any addresses that are outside the United States or Canada at this time.”

Rivian wrote in an email to owners

NEWS: Tesla NACS adapter confirmation emails are now being sent to Rivian owners!

Distribution is prioritized by VIN—the older your Rivian, the sooner you'll get your adapter.

Gaining access to Tesla Superchargers

Rivian officially gained access to the enormous Tesla Supercharger network in mid-March 2024. At the time, the company vowed to start shipping NACS adapters “in April.”

For context, NACS adapters are crucial for non-Tesla EVs to be compatible with Supercharger plugs. While third-party adapters are available in the market, automakers like Ford and Rivian promised to provide their own adapters to their customers.

As of today, Tesla has only opened the network to Ford and Rivian. It is expected to welcome General Motors, Polestar, and Volvo in the coming spring. Other OEMs will follow at a later date.

Ford pioneered NACS adapter deployment

Ford was the first automaker in North America to deliver on its promise of free NACS adapter to owners in February 2024.

It is unsurprising, considering that the American legacy automaker was also the first OEM to partner with Tesla for the NACS adoption. Since Ford’s announcement, an increasing number of automakers in the region have also started to commit to NACS.

However, Ford’s NACS adapter delivery has been relatively slow. Now, Rivian is set to officially become the second OEM to make its NACS adapters available.

Now that Rivian has started contacting its owners about potential NACS delivery, owners must check their emails to get updates. Rivian owners who have already received the email must respond and provide their shipping address so they can receive the NACS adapters.
