Rivian has hired a new chief operating officer to lead the reorganization and alignment of its operations.
Last Friday, EV automaker Rivian announced the departure of its head of manufacturing engineering, Charly Mwangi. Charly helped kick-start Rivian’s manufacturing process.
Accordingly, the company hired a new Chief Operating Officer to lead the restructuring and alignment of its operations. Frank Klein, who previously served at Magna International, will join the company on June 1. He will oversee production, supply chain, and manufacturing engineering.
According to a statement via Yahoo, “Mr. Klein will oversee production, manufacturing engineering and supply chain,”
“As we ramp production towards our 2022 target of 25,000 vehicles, we are confident these changes will strengthen our ability to more efficiently engage new and existing customers, extend our product offerings, and deepen our relationships with commercial partners. We are committed to maximizing the shift to electrified transportation while driving value for our customers and investors.”
During the first quarter of the year, the EV automaker produced 2,553 vehicles and delivered 1,227. To reach its target, it must ramp up its production at least ten times for the rest of the year.
The automaker has already had a rough start in 2022. Due to parts bottlenecks and several supply chain issues, it cut out its production target earlier this year. They also hit low on stocks after Ford sold its shares earlier this month.
However, Rivian affirmed its goal to meet its production target and confirmed that they have an increased number of reservations.
The EV automaker is already ramping up its production in Normal, Ilinois. They will be having a second plant in Georgia. With the two facilities, its total planned annual capacity is 600,000.
