The arrival of the Porsche Macan EV marks the 10-year success of its traditional combustion engine-powered counterpart.

“Ten years after its launch, the Porsche Macan is heading into its second model generation, now in all-electric form.”

Porsche stated in a press release

Design

Porsche’s new Macan EV retained many of the design features of the iconic model as the automaker sought to capitalize on its already popular status. By doing so, Porsche can also attract Macan fans to consider buying the all-electric version.

“Our aim is to offer the sportiest model in its segment with the all-electric Macan. In many ways, we are taking a very successful SUV to a new level.”

Jörg Kerner, VP of the Macan for Porsche

It sports sharper ratios and Porsche Design DNA, enabling a more dynamic appearance. It has a shallow-pitch bonnet and intensely pronounced wings. It has a length of 4,784 mm, a width of 1,938 mm, and a height of 1,622 mm. It sports up to 22″ wheels with staggered tire fitment.

Inside, Porsche focused on the Macan EV’s practicality. It offers up to 18 cubic feet, depending on the configuration. In addition, it has a 2.9 cubic feet space in the frunk.

In addition, it features a free-standing 12.6″ curved instrument cluster and a 10.9″ central display. Its new-gen infotainment system supports both Android Automotive OS and Apple CarPlay. Moreover, Porsche Communication Management also equipped the Macan EV to support “Hey Porsche” to access key information like recommended routes and charging stops, among others.

Porsche emphasized the Macan EV’s capability to enable a “real sports car feeling” owing to its low center of gravity, sporty seat position, steering precision, and driving dynamics.

Pricing and availability

Porsche aims to officially launch the new Macan EV for sale sometime in the second half of 2024. However, it now accepts orders from customers.

As per the online configurator, the Macan 4 has a base price of $78,800. Meanwhile, the Turbo variant is more expensive at $105,300.

However, it must be noted that these prices exclude the $1,650 delivery, processing, and handling fee.

Porsche aims to continue producing the gas-powered, first-gen Macan for American customers for some time. However, its European production has already halted due to new EU cybersecurity regulations, making the launch of the Macan EV more significant for the company.
