Geely-owned Lotus has successfully delivered the all-electric hyper SUV Eletre to customers in China, according to a press release.

To celebrate the significant milestone, Lotus presented the electric SUV to the first customer during the company’s 75th-anniversary event at the Shanghai International Circuit.

A year after Eletre’s London reveal, our first customers collected the Hyper SUV at a special celebration at the Shanghai F1 circuit. “Eletre is a crucial part of our plan to transform Lotus into a truly global electric car brand. We are a pioneer in the decarbonization of luxury automobiles, and the delivery of Eletre has demonstrated our capability to lead the energy transition and steer the industry towards a more sustainable future.”

Qingfeng Feng, Lotus Tech CEO

What a spectacular @lotuscars event held at the Shanghai circuit to celebrate 75 years of Lotus but also the first Eletre hyper SUV rides for customers. Had my first taste of Eletre and I’m impressed, super quick, minimal body role and interior is plush. #Forthedrivers #Lotus pic.twitter.com/32cUNl1lxm

The delivery operation for the Eletre will expand to the EU and the UK before the year’s end. Apart from that, the automaker also announced plans to launch the model in the United States and other foreign markets in 5 years.

Lotus Tech claims that the Eletre has already accumulated over 5,000 orders globally as of January 31, 2023. That figure is indeed remarkable, given that the testing phase of the electric model only began in the second month of this year in Germany.

About the all-electric Eletre

The Eletre and Eletre S RWD are equipped with a single motor system, enabling a horsepower of 603 (450 kilowatts) and 523 lb-ft (710 Newton-meters). It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds.

Meanwhile, the Eletre R AWD is equipped with two motor systems. It boasts 905 horsepower (675 kW) and 726 lb-ft torque (985 Nm). Its acceleration time drops to 2.95 seconds compared to the RWD variants.

That said, the automaker claims that the Eletre R is the fastest dual-motor all-electric SUV in the world. It beat the Tesla Model X Plaid with a 163 mph top speed.

Both the RWD and AWD variants are equipped with a 112-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The Eletre and Eletre S boast a WLTP range of 372 miles, while the Eletre R can go 304 miles.

It is also worth noting that the Lotus Eletre utilizes the brand’s proprietary 800-volt Electrical Performance Architecture. Therefore, the electric SUV can support 420-kilowatt supercharging. It can charge from 0-80% SoC of 20 minutes via a rapid charger.

Apart from that, it is equipped with Level 4-ready hardware, such as the first deployable LiDAR system in the world.
