Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD announced yet another triumph with the Atto 3‘s performance in the Israeli market. As reported by CleanTechnica, the electric SUV came in third place among the best-selling EVs, with sales of 2,333 units in November.
Given that the Atto 3 has only been on sale for two months after its debut, the sales performance is very impressive.
The Atto 3 or “BYD Yuan Plus”
BYD Atto 3 is an electric SUV that also goes by the name “BYD Yuan Plus” in its home market and a few others. However, it is most commonly known as the Atto 3 in the following markets: Japan, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Cambodia, Mauritius, and Israel, amongst others.

Expansion effort
The Chinese battery and EV maker aims to penetrate and establish its footprint in international markets. BYD seeks strategic alliances with local partners in the new countries it is reaching.
In Israel, it formed a partnership with Shlomo Motors as the Chinese automaker appointed the local company to distribute its passenger electric vehicles in Israel.
Since then, Shlomo Motors has constructed two new showrooms in Petah Tikva and Haifa. Beginning in 2023, Shlomo will launch four additional showrooms for BYD.
Recent achievements
BYD dominates the Chinese NEV market with its current EV portfolio.
In November, BYD exported 12,318 of its passenger cars. Furthermore, the automaker hit a record-breaking sale of 230,129 EVs from just 91,829 units last year.
Most of the affordable EVs in Israel is produced by Chinese companies. As a result, other EV importers have to lower their prices to compete with Chinese EVs like the BYD Atto 3.
