Chinese auto giant Geely and tech company Baidu have officially launched the first offering of their JiYue ROBOCAR joint venture brand, the 01, on October 27.
What’s remarkable about the JiYue 01 ROBOCAR model is its high-tech features, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Technical details
Gasgoo reported that the JiYue 01 ROBOCAR currently has two variants, including the Max and the Max Performance. The model’s pricing ranges from 249,900 yuan to 339,900 yuan.
The JiYue 01 ROBOCAR Max features a single electric motor. Customers can choose between 71.4kWh and 100kWh battery configurations that enable a 550km and 720km driving range, correspondingly.
On the other hand, the Max Performance offers a dual electric motor that generates a maximum output of 400kW. It also has a smart FWD configuration that supports two-wheel and four-wheel drive switching in only 0.4 seconds. In effect, it can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Its 100kWh battery pack enables a driving range of 660km.
Both variants will ride on Geely’s popular Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform. They can also support 10% to 80% charging in just sub-30 minutes using a DC fast charger.
AI Simo integration
JiYue emphasized that the 01 ROBOCAR is the inaugural mass-production model to feature Qualcomm’s 8295 intelligent vehicle cockpit chip to support Baidu’s smart vehicle AI partner, SIMO.
“SIMO speech recognition speed is as fast as 500ms and covers complex scenarios in and out of the vehicle, four-way simultaneous conversations, and continued conversations. The AI system also integrates multi-modal interactions including voice, gestures, and visual cues to enhance personalization to the users. SIMO is backed by Baidu’s integrated AI system Ernie Bot enabling it to continue growing and develop logical reasoning and strategic planning capabilities.”
JiYue
JiYue further indicated that the 01 model is the first-ever car in the world to integrate voice-activated parking while outside its cabin. It allows owners to voice out commands to use the autonomous valet parking function, such as “park itself or pickup users in indoor or outdoor parking lots from up to 2km away.”
ROBO Drive Max autonomous driving
JiYue also offers the ROBO Drive Max for the 01 ROBOCAR, a monthly subscription autonomous driving technology.
According to Electrek, it supports point-to-point (PPA) navigation assistance such as follows:
- fully autonomous lane changing and overtakes
- highway on and off ramp maneuvering
- multi-lane obstacle avoidance
- identifying zebra crossing and traffic lights
- giving way to pedestrians
- making unprotected left turns
- avoiding non-motorized vehicles
The Chinese automotive brand boasts that the flagship model’s Level 4 autonomous driving features activate on 90% of the country’s highways and three urban cities, including Hangzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai.
It further aims to include another 200+ Chinese cities as early as next year as part of its expansion plans.
JiYue has yet to announce the official date of customer deliveries, considering that it just recently launched the 01 ROBOCAR on the local market on October 27. JiYue also shared that it is currently developing its second model, 02.
