The company introduced multiple prototypes of its planned vehicle models at the event, including the PEAR electric SUV. The other prototypes are the Ronin and Alaska EVs.

That was a great product vision day 👏⚡️ ( $FSR )

Fisker PEAR details

Cost-cutting strategy and pricing

The impending PEAR e-SUV represents Fisker’s second SUV model, which is slightly smaller than the prominent Ocean.

Remarkably, the company claims that the new SIV will have a lower base price of $29,900, excluding the applicable tax credits. Therefore, the EV would sell at only $22,400 for tax credits-eligible customers.

It is also worth noting that the automaker aims to launch EV production in the Lordstown factory in the US to qualify for the IRA’s full tax credits of $7,500.

Fisker asserted that it would equip the PEAR EV with 35% fewer components than the Ocean to enable easier production and lower operating costs. This strategy will effectively support the company’s plan to offer the EV under $30,000.

In fact, Fisker refers to the EV’s platform as “SVL1,” which means “Simple, Light, Volume.” For instance, CEO Henrik Fisker announced that all four EV seats will share a similar armrest layout. This approach will enable the company to cut costs by only developing one design instead of four. Its body will also rely on steel rather than the more expensive aluminum materials.

Unique features

Despite the apparent cost-cutting in terms of components and materials, the company assured that the PEAR will still offer some distinctly remarkable features, such as its “Houdini door.” For context, it refers to the rear hatch that disappears into the vehicle’s body that leaves a huge opening.

Furthermore, it will also feature a storage area that resembles a front drawer. The company calls this feature a “froot,” or a front + boot, which is most commonly known as “frunk.”

However, PEAR’s froot is very different from any other models as it essentially slides out from the back of the front grille location. In effect, it offers a flatter space than the other EVs. The company further noted that they insulated the area so owners could use it to store cold or hot items.

Interior

The Fisker PEAR’s interior has a spartan interior, which may be part of the company’s efforts to cut costs. However, it must be noted that the model is still at its prototype stage. Therefore, the company might still employ more changes.

Fisker indicated that the EV will offer 5- and 6-seat configurations. The 6-seat variant will apparently have a front bench seat.

The company demonstrated that customers do not need a 3-row SUV to carry six people by having 6 of its workers inside the EV early in the presentation.

In addition, it will also have the “Lounge mode,” which will enable seat adjustments. It allows for a flat space that is huge enough for passengers to lie in.
