American electric automaker Fisker finally decided to join the growing number of companies in adopting Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) on August 15.

As EV-a2z reported, Ford was the first automaker to announce support for Tesla’s goal of standardizing the electric vehicle charging network in the region in late May. Since then, numerous established brands followed, including GM, Rivian, Volvo, Polestar, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, and  Aptera, among others.

#NACS ⚡ @FiskerInc will use NACS for their 2025 cars. This means Fisker owners can use Tesla's 12,000 Supercharger stations in the US and Canada, giving them more options.

Agreement

Under the agreement, Fisker will gain access to Tesla’s enormous and reliable Supercharging network in North America as early as the first quarter of 2025. However, Fisker EV owners must initially need an adapter to use the Superchargers.

Nonetheless, it plans to integrate Tesla’s charging port in its next-gen EV models “later.” The automaker is yet to clarify this timeline. By then, Fisker will provide owners with a CCS adapter to broaden their charging options.

It also remains unclear if the plan to provide CCS adapters to Fisker owners will be required. Notably, many charging solutions companies have also decided to include NACS connectors in their existing and new stations.

“The move will provide Fisker owners with additional charging options, taking advantage of Tesla’s 12,000 Supercharger stations in the United States and Canada. All current and future Fisker vehicles will be covered by the agreement.”

Tesla Superchargers is undoubtedly the most competitive charging network in North America today. Therefore, it can potentially increase customer interest in Fisker EVs. It will also contribute to offering EV owners more reliable and accessible charging infrastructures.
