The vehicle is way cheaper than mass-market electric cars at only $9,000 in China.

What is a double-decker bus?

A double-deck bus is basically a bus that features a two-storey layout or “decks.” It is an innovative transportation solution that aids in lessening the number of vehicles on the road, considering that it is actually two buses in one frame.

It can carry twice the capacity of a standard passenger bus model. That said, these kinds of buses are already becoming popular across the globe.

As for the electric-powered double-decker bus, it offers a more sustainable mode of transportation. It features an electric motor and battery, which does not generate tailpipe emissions.

Interesting details

The Made-in-China electric bus has a double deck that increases its passenger loading capacity by twofold.

This 10-foot-tall e-bus features limited front windows, as shown in the picture. Interestingly, some reports suggest that the e-bus either has concealed wheels or is track-based.

Nonetheless, it may have more variations as usual, with such outfits designed to attract more potential customers.

According to Electrek, its electric motor only generates a maximum output of 5 kW (6.6 horsepower). Meanwhile, its top speed is only 15.5 mph (25 km/h).

Nonetheless, it offers some enticing features such as follows:

  • Four-wheel hydraulic braking
  • Rack and pinion-powered steering
  • Sound system with CD player
  • Driver seat belts

It also has a maximum driving range of 120 km (75 miles), enabling a five-hour drive.

As mentioned, it only costs $9,000, which is remarkably cheap for a vehicle with a battery pack.
