As the automaker indicated in its Twitter post above, the electric car prototype is co-developed with PIMAS, an expert in vehicle conversion for disabled people.

“Since December 2003, Pimas has been ISO-certified 9001 in the installation and adaptation of vehicles for disabled people. This standard confirms the quality of our services and products to customers for years.”

Ami for All concept

Apparently, the new compact EV prototype is a crucial part of Citroën’s “Ami for All” concept.

As mentioned, the compact car is specially developed for people with disabilities, particularly those who lost control of their lower limbs.

Owners can move from their wheelchairs to the driver’s seat more easily thanks to the car’s door angle opening slightly wider. For braking and acceleration, the EV also incorporates manual and mechanical controls. It also has a knob on the steering wheel for simpler handling.

Moreover, Citroën included storage options for the driver’s wheelchair both inside and outside the car.

“Ami for All is perfectly in line with the Ami philosophy: to offer a practical response to access to mobility for all. Ami has reintroduced ease of movement to micro-journeys and given more independence to teenagers, the elderly, and those without a driving license.

We are delighted to present this technical solution to support the mobility of Disabled People, and we are working to make this project achievable in the short term.”

Citroën CEO Thierry Koskas
