CATL is going to provide lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries equipped with Cell to Pack (CTP) technology to Solaris

China-based Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) has announced that it will partner with Polish electric bus manufacturer Solaris to provide the latter with LFP batteries.

Under the partnership, CATL will supply lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries with Cell to Pack (CTP) technology to Solaris for the electrification of its buses, the company said.

According to the company, CATL’s LFP battery system features exceptionally long battery life and high thermal stability. Its CTP technology increases the battery energy density and payload of the e-bus, eliminating the need for conventional module parts. Powered with LFP batteries, Solaris’ e-buses may offer an outstanding performance record in safety and distinguished temperature adaptability.

Solaris is one of Europe’s leading bus and trolleybus manufacturers. Based in Bolechowo, Poland, the company has been manufacturing buses for the last 25 years with over 22,000 vehicles.

The company is gradually shifting its activities into electrification. In 2021, Solaris ranks first in the zero-emission bus market. Its partnership with CATL will further expand its operations into electrification as it offers new battery solutions for its vehicles.

CATL, based in China, is the largest manufacturer of power batteries. It also supplies LFP batteries to large automakers such as Tesla and NIO.
