Luxury automaker Cadillac has just introduced its new all-electric luxury SUV, the 2025 OPTIQ, on Wednesday. According to the press release, the new model comes with a driving range of 300 miles at $54,000.
Cadillac unveils OPTIQ electric luxury SUV
Cadillac continues to expand its electric vehicle lineup, which currently consists of the LYRIQ, ESCALADE IQ, and CELESTIQ. Apart from the upcoming OPTIQ, the GM-owned brand is also set to launch the VISTIQ.
As per the official reveal, the 2025 Cadillac OPTIQ will follow in the footsteps of the LYRIQ with numerous “segment-leading features” to outshine other rivals.
“Cadillac has always defined American luxury, and OPTIQ is an example of how our bold, innovative spirit is propelling us into the EV future.”
John Roth, Global Cadillac Vice President
VP Roth also believes that the new Cadillac OPTIQ will play a crucial role in enticing luxury EV customers to embrace the brand, aligning with its goal of a 100% EV lineup by 2030.
Strong performance
The 2025 Cadillac OPTIQ will feature a standard dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain. It yields an output of 330 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of instant torque, enabling drivers to enjoy a true electric vehicle experience with performance metrics.
It comes with an 85 kWh battery pack, enabling a claimed standard driving range of 300 miles between charges.
In addition, it can support DC fast charging, which adds 79 miles in just about ten minutes. It also comes with Regen on Demand, a “driver-controlled braking feature that allows the driver to slow down or stop the OPTIQ with a dedicated, pressure-sensitive paddle located on the steering wheel.”
Moreover, the new 2025 Cadillac OPTIQ can convert kinetic energy back into the battery through its One-Pedal Driving feature. As a result, the EV gains more range through normal driving behaviour.
Exterior design and interior features
The new Cadillac OPTIQ is trying to entice luxury EV customers with its “sporty and youthful” exterior design.
Parent company General Motors outlined the four main pillars the team used in developing the 2025 OPTIQ’s distinctive design:
- Roof Encompassing Glasswork
- Black Crystal Grille
- Rear-Quarter Panel
- Signature Lighting Choreography
Inside, the new Cadillac OPTIQ is packed with cutting-edge technologies and distinctive designs.
It comes with a 33″ diagonal LED display with 9k resolution and 1 billion+ colours. It also offers a standard Super Cruise driver assistance tech, along with advanced radar, camera, and ultrasonic sensor tech. It also supports Google built-in integration, a standard 19-speaker AKG Audio System and Dolby Atmos.
Moreover, it has standard safety features such as the following:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Blind Zone Steering Assist
- Enhanced Automatic Parking
“OPTIQ’s bold design leverages the Cadillac standard for luxury while remaining youthful, sporty, and innovative. Its expressive detailing, integrated technology and welcoming interior gives drivers a true immersive experience.”
Cadillac Design Executive Director Bryan Nesbitt
The 2025 Cadillac OPTIQ will come with Luxury and Sport trims, with a base price of $54,000. However, Cadillac noted that the final price heavily depends on dealers.
The new OPTIQ’s competitive price combined with an impressive 300-mile range positions it as a strong competitor against other established players. In addition, it could potentially disrupt the market and make luxury EVs more accessible to a broader audience.
