General Motors‘ luxury brand Cadillac has officially started the low-volume production of its all-new Celestiq electric vehicle that costs a whopping $340,000 in Warren, Michigan.
The announcement came from Cadillac Vice President John Roth during a media briefing, GM Authority reports.
“We have already begun building one of the units.”

Cadillac Celestiq EV has “extremely high demand”
GM initially revealed the new Cadillac Celestiq EV in 2022 as its premier and top-of-the-line model, with the entry-level variant costing about $340,000.
Neither GM nor Cadillac specified the number of Celestiq EVs they plan to produce. However, its parent company noted that the model received “extremely high demand.”
Unfortunately, it may be challenging to technically define that “extremely high demand,” considering GM’s unpredictability in new model launches.
As of now, GM and Cadillac are assembling the Celestiq EV “by hand” at the existing GM Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan.
Given the manual production, there would surely not be a substantial number of units in the market when the model arrives.
Design
As teased by Cadillac in mid-2022, the Celestiq EV will feature a very striking and luxurious design. Interestingly, customers can customize their own units with a wide range of materials, finishes, and colours, among others. Inside, the model boasts multiple digital screens, heated armrests and door pads.
It boasts a multilink adaptive air suspension, an active rear spoiler, and rear steering to improve aerodynamics and balance at high speeds.
It will also come with GM’s Ultra Cruise advanced hands-free driver assistance system, offering a 360-degree vehicle view and a smart glass roof.
Technical specs
The Cadillac Celestiq EV is expected to deliver a driving range of 300 miles and accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.8 seconds.
It rides on its parent company’s BEV3 platform, featuring a 111 kWh GM Ultium battery pack and two GM Ultium Drive motors.
This strategic combination enables the Celestiq EV to deliver an all-wheel grip and an output of up to 600 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.
It can add 78 miles of range in only 10 minutes by using a 200 kW DC fast charging system.
The Cadillac Celestiq EV is indeed a competitive model in the electric vehicle industry, potentially beating its rivals when it arrives. It has a base price of $340,000, excluding any options and fees. Considering the currently long waiting list for the model, its premium pricing seems to not discourage Cadillac fans from considering buying it.
