As part of the company’s electrification strategy, Stellantis announced on Thursday that it would utilize its assembly factory located in Cassino, located in the central region of Italy, to produce vehicles based on the STLA Large platform.
Stellantis has stated that it will create its following vehicles based on four different electric platforms, one of which will be the STLA Large platform.
Stellantis was established in 2021 by merging Fiat–Chrysler and the maker of Peugeot, PSA.
Stellantis to produce new vehicles from new platforms
The Franco-Italian automaker plans to introduce its first vehicles built on the new platforms in the upcoming year.
Stellantis’ modular battery packs and electric drive modules will allow the STLA Large platform to achieve an all-electric range of up to 800 kilometers (500 miles) when used with the platform.
Stellantis has stated that more information regarding which STLA Large-based products will be manufactured in Cassino is also where the company’s Alfa Romeo and Maserati automobiles are produced; details will be provided at a later date.
Stellantis didn’t disclose details of its investments
Reuters reports that the organization did not disclose any specifics regarding the scope of the proposed investments for the facility.
Stellantis’s first factory to construct STLA Large platform-based vehicles was in Windsor, Canada. Stellantis’s second factory will be in Cassino, which opened in 1972.
