Chinese electric automaker NIO finally launched the new NT2.0-based EC6 model last week.
The platform upgrade gave the model a longer driving range, faster charging capability, better performance, and more innovative ADAS technologies.
Exterior
The new NIO EC6 has a spectacular design with the following dimensions:
- Length: 4,849 mm
- Width: 1,995 mm
- Height: 1,697 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,915 mm
It has an enticing silhouette of a fastback owing to a lustrous A-pillar and lower body height.
It features the brand’s new split-type Double Dash daytime running light. It increases the front surfaces’ sense of suspense and dynamic momentum.
At the rear, the model has low, broad fenders and a narrow windshield. It also features a 23-degree inverse cut that enhances its sporty look.
It also has a Dual-Mode Active Spoiler that substantially enhances drag coefficient by up to 10% to 0.24. It is 1,353 mm long and 196 mm wide with a 0.254 sqm frontal area.
CleanTechnica further noted that the spoiler automatically adapts to the drag-reducing position at a 23-degree angle when it surpasses 80 km/h speed. It apparently reduces the Cd to 0.24 at 170 km/h speed and tilts up to 31.5 degrees. It offers an extra downforce of 580N and stability at 200 km/h speeds.
Interior
NIO interior designers boast that the EC6 offers a “second living room” feel. It offers smart air vents that perfectly integrate into the cabin. It also has tone-to-tone deco strips that feature a smooth gloss design.
The model’s interior also has refined microswitches, rattan accents, and acoustic fabric.
In addition, it is equipped with a 1.770 m² panoramic sunroof that offers a 1.156 m² lighting area. It also has improved heat and sound insulation owing to the 4.96 mm double-layered acoustic glass.
The EC6 also incorporates sport seats ideal for drivers and passengers’ spines, particularly during high-speed driving. It also allows for a 16-way driver seat adjustment and 18-way for passenger seats.
Technical details
The NIO EC6 is standardly equipped with a dual-motor 4-wheel-drive configuration, including a 150 kW induction motor at the front and a 210 kW permanent magnet motor at the rear. It generates a combined maximum power of 360 kW and 700 N·m of torque.
The model can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 4.4 seconds, even in half-load driving conditions. It also has the brand’s front wheels aluminum alloy 4-piston fixed calipers.
According to the company’s online configurator, the model has a CLTC-estimated driving range of 935km, owing to its 150 kWh battery pack.
Apart from these, the model also offers the brand’s advanced smart driving features under the NIO Aquila Super Sensing technology.
Additionally, it has a total of 24 safety and driver assistance features, such as the Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) for precise high-beam control.
