Chinese luxury electric automaker NIO’s delivery figure surged 81% year-on-year to 19,329 units in August 2023.
Meanwhile, its year-to-date deliveries reached 94,352 units, up 31.9% YoY. The press release indicated that this strong performance boosted the brand’s total deliveries to 383,908 units as of the end of the month.
August sales
Most of NIO’s 19,329 sales in August came from its crossover/SUV models, which accounted for 12,015 units.
Meanwhile, its sedan models contributed the remaining 7,314 units.

YTD sales
NIO’s strong August performance raised its year-to-date deliveries to a total of 94,352 units, up 32% in the same period last year.
Of that total, its crossover/SUV models accounted for 47,003 units. Meanwhile, the majority of sales came from its sedan models (47,349). Refer to the table below:

In hindsight, NIO’s FY 2022 sales reached over 122,000 units worldwide. Overall, the Chinese brand already sold 383,908 electric vehicle models as of August.

The brand reportedly aims to complete the shift to NT2.0 from the prior platform (NT1.0) by September, along with the launch of the new EC6.

Most of NIO’s sales are in its home market, China. However, it also exports some of its models to the European EV market. Remarkably, the Chinese automaker also offers its own battery swap stations for all its owners.
It further aims to expand its battery swap stations from just 1,600 in July to 2,300+ by the end of the year.
