Twitter started its transformation by launching new features to increase customer appeal. The company will compete with other platforms by offering higher rewards, according to Tesmanian.
Twitter is a platform where people worldwide can share their thoughts. In addition, many content creators are present there, but as a space to earn money, the platform may not be the most attractive for them.
The social media app only allows posting links to other sites hosting their content, like videos. And so, Twitter is just a platform for advertising other sites that are appealing to content creators. There is a wasted opportunity here, and new Twitter boss Elon Musk is determined to turn that around with a change that will make Twitter the app for everything.
Twitter’s short messaging feature is a limiting factor
The social media network’s days as a short messaging platform are numbered. Although there is a charm in it, on the other hand, it was a huge limiting factor for development.
Musk intends to fix that. According to a series of tweets he tweeted over the past week, Twitter is currently working on becoming a platform for content creators. He said that the possibility of monetizing content would soon be included.
Even though Twitter’s current version has something similar, it doesn’t allow content creators to earn a living, compared to, for instance, YouTube.
Twitter’s new features for extra income
Now the platform allows tips or to become a super follower of the creator for a monthly subscription. However, this is only a small extra income. Apparently, the new Twitter will change that.
Musk previously said that the newly offered Twitter Blue subscription for $7.99 a month would add a blue badge next to your name, add cool features, become a source of income and form a pool to reward content creators.
It seems to be a rough idea, and no details are known yet. However, it caught the interest of creators who hope they can be rewarded for the work they share on the platform.
Once the feature is launched, it should attract creators and could greatly expand Twitter’s user base.
Furthermore, Musk showed interest in Twitter offering a YouTube-like experience where creators can post their videos and monetize their content.
According to his tweet exchange with YouTuber Quinn Nelson, YouTube gives creators 55% of ad revenue. Upon knowing this, Musk stated that Twitter “can beat that.”
Twitter’s video length
Previously, the Tesla CEO revealed that the platform offers a 42-minute video at 1080 resolution upload option and will allow longer videos to be added over the coming month.
That, combined with the ability to earn more, will surely attract a significant base of content creators to Twitter.
