Tesla urges customers to buy another model
InsideEVs reported that Tesla is now asking customers to select a different model. In return, it pledges to offer them “priority matching.”
Some of the choices include the Tesla Model Y Performance, pre-updated Model 3 Performance inventory units, and the Model 3 Highland’s RWD and LR variants.
The move raised speculations that Tesla may have been planning to delay the launch of the Model 3 Performance to give way for the revamped Model 3 Highland.
Another interesting guess is that Tesla may have been planning to kill the model for the Australian market. It would be unsurprising, given that the new Model 3 is an ideal successor for the EV.
The Tesla Model 3 Highland can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds. However, it is slower by 1.1 sec from the Performance variant.

Tesla’s move to cancel orders for the Model 3 Performance has undoubtedly disappointed customers who expect to obtain the electric car. That said, Tesla must at least inform affected customers of the reason why their orders got canceled.
Tesla plans to begin the new Model 3 deliveries by January to March 2024. However, Drive indicates that some early customers for the pre-update model may get the Highland before the end of 2023.
