Tesla announced it will entertain the electric vehicle industry’s questions about the new Model 3 electric sedan later this week.
Interestingly, the event coincides with the highly awaited debut of the Rivian R2 electric SUV on March 7.
Tesla urges people to submit questions for the live discussion
Tesla’s Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen and Vehicle Engineering Vice President Lars Moravy will host the upcoming Q&A event for the new Model 3 on Thursday, according to the X announcement.
Tesla encourages X users to submit their questions by replying to the post’s thread, enabling the company to review them easily.
As expected, Tesla investor and prominent automotive content creator @SawyerMerritt participated in the question submission.
Merritt further asked about the changes the industry can expect from the new Performance variant of the Tesla Model 3.
These are just among the most interesting questions the post received from interested X users. It would be exciting to know the answers of the Tesla executives tomorrow.
Brief background
Tesla officially launched the new Model 3 Highland in the North American market in January 2024, several months following the electric sedan’s debut in Europe, Asia, and other markets.
The upgrade includes a wide range of exterior and interior changes compared to the original model, such as the following:
- Improved front and rear bumpers
- New ambient lighting
- Upgraded center console with wireless charging pad, a bigger touchscreen, a rear entertainment display, etc.
It initially arrived with only two configurations: the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) Long Range. Tesla has yet to announce final launch plans for the top-tier Performance variant.
Rivian R2 to debut at the same time
Interestingly, Tesla’s sudden decision to hold a live Q&A event for the new Model 3 electric sedan overlaps with Rivian’s highly awaited reveal of the new R2 electric SUV.
In that sense, Tesla seems to be trying to steer attention away from the Rivian R2’s debut.
As EV-a2z recently reported, the Rivian R2 will have a smaller body and a lower price compared to the R1S.
Chief RJ Scaringe even asserted that the new R2 will be Rivian’s “Tesla Model 3 moment” due to its expected production challenges to meet the enormous customer demand.
Electric vehicles and Tesla fans will undoubtedly watch and participate in the upcoming new Tesla Model 3 Q&A event as they seek to learn more details about the model, particularly the performance variant’s launch timeline.
