American electric automaker Tesla continues to dominate multiple electric vehicle markets across the world, including Denmark. According to Tesla Regional Lead Kim Gaba Jensen’s LinkedIn post, the Musk-led company successfully hit the 50,000-unit sales threshold on Tuesday.
“It’s a big day!
Huge congrats to the Danish Tesla team – Now there are more than 50,000 Tesla vehicles on the roads in Denmark…”
Tesla Regional Lead Kim Gaba Jensen
Tesla’s growth
Mr. Jensen indicated in his announcement that Tesla Denmark was just at the 4,000-unit sales milestone when he officially joined the automaker in 2018.
By the end of 2020, Tesla’s sales remarkably crossed the 12,000-unit threshold. The Regional Lead even stated that this figure already “seemed like an insane amount.”
Amazingly, the American electric car giant finally surpassed the historic 50,000-unit sales after two years and nine months of penetrating the Danish market. According to the LinkedIn post, Tesla also managed to capture a notable 2% share of the country’s overall automotive market.
Tesla Model Y’s popularity
Of the 50,000+ Tesla EVs in Denmark, the popular e-SUV dominated the sales with 20,000 units.
“Now 2 years and 9 months later, Tesla Denmark is at 50,000+ and closing in on 2% of all vehicles on the road in Denmark. At the same time, there are now 20,000 Model Y on the Danish roads.”
Tesla Regional Lead Kim Gaba Jensen
Teslarati reported a few remarks from Denmark-based Tesla owners, saying that the 2% market share seems insufficient because of the notable prevalence of Tesla EVs in the country.
Notably, Regional Lead Jensen based the announcement on the registration data monitored by Bilstatistik.dk.
Tesla Europe also celebrated the significant achievement in Denmark through an X post.
“Thank you to our owners in Denmark.”
