Swedish automaker Polestar’s new over-the-air (OTA) update for the battery electric 5-door liftback 2 adds a YouTube integration to the main infotainment screen, along with other new features.
Polestar noted that the P2.9 software is already the fifteenth OTA update for the model since 2020.

The launch of the P2.9 OTA update allows Polestar 2 users to access YouTube while the car is parked.
As mentioned, the update also included other “enhancements” involving Polestar 2’s Range Assist and Apple CarPlay functions.
That said, the Range Assistant now enables drivers to access key energy consumption data and track the previous 20, 40, or 100 kilometers, which may help them to improve their efficiency. Remarkably, the app’s estimated range now has an updated algorithm that may consider environmental changes and other factors that affect efficiency.
This update is undoubtedly a significant improvement from the former software version that uses standard-certified data to determine the car’s remaining driving range.
On the other hand, the P2.9 OTA also included additional features for the Apple CarPlay, such as phone and media data integration on the home screen. With this, calls may now be managed using the steering wheel buttons, and Apple Maps can be viewed on the driver’s screen via CarPlay.

These new features will surely aid Polestar in attracting more customers to buy the all-electric 2. For reference, the automaker reported sales of almost 10,000 Polestar 2 models in the US in 2022 and approximately 51,000 units globally.
