The annual Guangzhou Auto Show officially launched at the Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou, China, on Friday, November 17. It showcased a lot of new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) models from established and startup electric automakers, including XPeng, ZEEKR, Li Auto, BYD, and MG Motor, among others.

New EVs displayed at the Guangzhou Auto Show
BYD Sea Lion 07
BYD officially debuted its new Sea Lion 07 offering at the Guangzhou Auto Show, marking its first-ever mid-size electric SUV.
Electrek covered the BYD Sea Lion 07’s debut, revealing that the model will directly compete with the Tesla Model Y with its 4,830 mm length, 1,925 mm width, and 1,620 mm height. It will have a price range of $27,700 (200,000 yuan) – $35,900 (260,000 yuan).
XPeng X9
XPeng also exhibited its all-new X9 MVP for the first time at the Guangzhou Auto Show. It will have a base price of RMB 388,000 ($53,800). The company has started accepting pre-orders for the new model for a 2,000 ($277) down payment.
It will officially launch in December ahead of the deliveries in January. XPeng has yet to announce if it will be exclusive to the Chinese market or if it will also launch in Europe.
ZEEKR 007
ZEEKR 007 was among the new models that joined the Guangzhou Auto Show, signifying the brand’s first electric sedan. Just like most of the new models mentioned, it also started accepting pre-orders after the debut.
It has a starting price of RMB 229,900 ($31,900), with local deliveries starting in January.
Li Auto Mega
Li Auto has also debuted its inaugural BEV offering, the Mega MPV. The company did not share more details about the model, from assuring investors and potential buyers of the following:
“We are confident that the Li Mega will be the first choice for families priced above RMB 500,000 yuan. It will be the number one seller in that price range, regardless of energy form, regardless of body style.”
Li Auto
The model will sell below RMB 600,000 ($83,200). It also started collecting pre-orders with more than 10,000 interested buyers in the initial two hours. It will officially launch in December, while deliveries will begin by February next year.
MG Motor Cyberster
MG Motor also presented the all-electric roadster Cyberster at the event. It will have three available variants for the Chinese market, including Glamour Edition, Style Edition, and Pioneer Edition. They will have a base price of RMB 319,800 ($44,340), RMB 339,800 ($47,115), and RMB 359,800 ($49,900), respectively.
The model boasts an acceleration time of 3.2 seconds from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph).

Guangzhou Auto Show is an annual event held in Southern China’s biggest city by the Guangzhou Zhanlian Exhibition Service Co., Ltd. It usually kicks off in November and December every year since 2003.
It is one of the most prestigious and highly awaited automotive events in the country, as the city is home to some local electric automakers.
CnEVPost reported that the media day occurred on November 17 exclusively for the media and special guests, while the professional visitor day started on November 18 and will end on November 19. The event will open to the public on November 20-26, with tickets costing RMB 50.
The above-mentioned models are just some of the 1,132 vehicles on display at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Of that total, 469 models, or 41%, are new energy vehicles. Foreign models account for 11% of the entries, with 119 units from brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volvo, Toyota, Honda, and Nissan.
