Stellantis‘ brand Fiat unveiled the Fiat 500e at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show to announce its arrival in the United States in the first quarter of 2024, as per InsideEVs.
CEO of Fiat and Stellantis Global CMO Olivier Francois stated:
“Today, more than ever, we are facing a global revolution, which means that customers are looking for more than just a car and we intend to embrace their changing needs. The new 500e is more than a car, it is a social project to feed America’s appetite for change toward sustainable mobility. We want to introduce America to EVs with our icon, the Fiat 500, because this is the right thing to do. On a corporate side, we need to trailblaze new pathways and it will be a privilege for our new 500 to help lead change.”
Notably, the Fiat 500e has been a popular urban vehicle in Europe since 2021.
Three different models for the North American market
The Italian automaker presented numerous customized 500e models at the said event to demonstrate its range of potential customization.
As per the report, famous Italian design houses Armani, Bvlgari, and Kartell customized the three models.
Interestingly, these three approaches to customizing the 500e are distinct from one another.
However, the production version of 500e designed for North America might take some time to be revealed, so customers will really have to wait.
The Los Angeles Auto Show in 2023 will be the venue for the North American 500e’s official debut, according to the firm.
Europe specs
Fiat omitted any North American specifications for the 500e vehicle. For reference, two powertrain combinations for the Fiat 500e are now offered in Europe:
- a 95 hp motor and a 23.8 kWh battery pack
- 118 hp, 42 kWh battery pack, roughly 300 km (186 miles) range, 150 km/h (93 mph) top speed, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 9 seconds.
In addition to the anticipated modest aesthetic improvements, a bigger battery and a more potent version may be available to US customers. The 500e starts at about €30,000 in Europe or €35,000 for a model with a bigger battery. It is interesting to know how much it would cost in the North American market.
