The company hopes to make EVs more affordable by providing a chip used in electric vehicles.
Exro Technologies, an electric vehicle parts maker, believes that it can make electric vehicles affordable by providing parts that can be used in different electric vehicles.
The company makes parts that can be used in any type of electric vehicle, from scooters and e-bikes to electric cars and buses.
Sue Ozdemir, CEO of Exro Technologies, says that their coil driver, which is a small metal box under a motor, can make any electric vehicle efficient.
“I like to call it the brain because it’s the smarts for how the system works.” She said. “It activates and responds to how you need your vehicle to be controlled and that really is the key in what we’re doing,” Ozdemir explained. “Controlling the performance of your vehicle. With ours, the key is you need less other components, so less motors, you might need less gears, so that should mean lower sticker price so we can afford EV in the future.”
Coil drivers will not be the only units that will be tested in their Arizona facility. Exro will also reuse old EV batteries to make sure that they won’t go to the landfill.
Its U.S. headquarters is located in Mesa, Arizona. The facility is still under construction and is expected to be finished by the end of September. As of May 16, the company is still hiring and has 50 positions to fill.
Exro recently signed a contract with EV Transport Services Inc. (eVTS) to provide the latter with a supply of Coil Drive systems that will be used for evTS model year 2023 FireFly vehicles.
