After a rough couple of weeks for Twitter employees, new Twitter CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the company is now finished with layoffs, according to Drive Tesla Canada.
Musk has laid off employees in the three weeks since he acquired the company, and over 1,000 have resigned.
As per sources from The Verge, during an all-hands meeting with the 2,700 remaining employees, Musk didn’t specify which roles Twitter is hiring for during the meeting. However, he said, “in terms of critical hires, people who are great at writing software are the highest priority.”
In addition, he noted that Twitter employees are encouraged to refer colleagues or friends to the social media company.
Musk didn’t specify what the roles would be doing. However, he noted that the current focus is people who can write software.
The previous report by The Verge said that Twitter recruiters were asking engineers to join Twitter 2.0, an Elon company.
Twitter HQ in Texas
Furthermore, Musk addresses the rumors of moving Twitter’s Headquarters to Texas.
“If we want to move the headquarters to Texas I think it would play into the idea that Twitter has gone from being left-wing to right-wing, which is not the case,” he told employees.
“This is not a right-wing takeover of Twitter. It is a moderate-wing takeover of Twitter.”
“To be the digital town square, we must represent people with a wide array of views even if we disagree with those views,”
Musk said he doesn’t plan to move Twitter’s HQ to the lone star state. However, he may open a second HQ in the future.
