Tesla CEO Elon Musk praised Gigafactory Shanghai for the quality of its electric vehicle products, even acknowledging them as “one of the best quality cars in the world.”
As EV-a2z recently reported, the Tesla boss concluded his return to China three years after the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this week. The two-day trip was eventful, including significant meetings with government officials and a tour of Tesla’s Chinese production hub, Giga Shanghai.
Giga Shanghai builds Tesla’s highest-quality EVs
CEO Musk recognized the Giga Shanghai for developing some of the world’s “best quality” cars.
It is not a secret that Tesla and its detractors have a history of conflict over the design and construction of their cars.
Nonetheless, Giga Shanghai has long worked to redefine the term “Made in China” by building the best and highest-quality vehicles among Tesla’s production plants worldwide.
“The emergence of Tesla has expanded the export sales area of Chinese cars to developed markets such as Europe and the United States, breaking the prejudice of ‘low price, low quality, and low value’ made in China, and sending ‘high quality, high value’ Chinese made cars.”

A year before that, a study acknowledged the Giga Shanghai-made Tesla Model 3s as the “least compained car” in a study in 2020.
